What is Gender Affirming Genital Surgery?

A variety of genital surgeries are available.

Removal of testicles (orchidectomy) or scrotum (scrotectomy) can be performed as a day
procedure.

Vaginoplasty is for those who want female genitals, incorporating a neo-vaginal cavity. A
labiaplasty, also known as zero-depth vaginoplasty, is identical in producing female
appearing anatomy, just without a full depth cavity.

Nullification involves removal of all external genitals (removal of the penis, testicles and
scrotum). Formation of a urethra (water pipe) in the perineum is made and a clitoris can be
created.

What do I need to in order undergo Vaginoplasty?

  • Be certain about which procedure is best suited to you
  • Have a diagnosis of gender incongruence
  • We require two letters from mental health professionals (Clinical Psychologist, Psychiatrist), documenting that WPATH criteria are met
  • In order to achieve the best outcome, we request a BMI (body mass index) of <30
  • Private insurance cover (>12 months) is strongly advised for vaginoplasty/labiaplasty

What’s the difference Vaginoplasty vs Labiaplasty?

What’s the difference Vaginoplasty vs Labiaplasty?

  • Both will provide identical female appearing external genitals
  • Both will include a neo-clitoris
  • Vaginoplasty will include a skin lined cavity for sexual activity – labiaplasty will have a ‘dimple’, which appears as an entrance to a cavity, but has no depth for sexual purposes
  • Vaginoplasty requires life-long dilatation; labiaplasty requires no dilating
  • Vaginoplasty incurs a longer recover and has a higher complication potential
